As you already know, I was a professor of English literature, grammar, and linguistics in America. I was also the Coordinator for the English Education Program at my university; meaning, I taught university students how to become English Language Arts teachers for secondary students. I left my career for a number of reasons, not least of all because I wanted to create a slower, more authentic life for my daughter and myself and experience more of the world while doing it.

In addition to being an English educator, I was also a part-time yoga instructor at my university’s wellness center and a secret astrologer. I say secret because the academy doesn’t think much of any branch of learning that does not conform to its model of legitimacy, and it is historically hostile to those subjects that have been traditionally practiced by women.

Now, wandering free, I no longer have to keep my esoteric wisdom and interests hidden like some kind of shameful secret. Few things give me greater joy than sharing my knowledge with other curious minds and learning from you in return. My experience has shown that judgment usually comes from a place of fear, and curiosity liberates us from it.
